Shubman Gill who is known for his opening role will now bat at the No. 3 position in the upcoming Test match between India and West Indies. Head coach Rahul Dravid approached Gill about taking on this new role, and Gill happily agreed, citing his previous experience batting at this position in domestic cricket.

“I have batted at the No. 3 position in the past, so I am comfortable with it. Our coach asked me about my preferred batting position, and I mentioned the No. 3 slot,” he stated.

When asked about replacing legendary players like Dravid and Cheteshwar Pujara, Gill chose not to comment directly.

“It’s an honor to be batting at a position where some greats have played before, but I still consider myself a junior member of the team,” he remarked.

In the toss, West Indies won and elected to bat first against the visiting Indian team.
