Ravichandran Ashwin has etched his name in cricket history by becoming only the third Indian bowler to claim 700 International wickets, placing him behind the legendary Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh.

In the first Test match between India and West Indies, the 36-year-old off-spinner reached the significant milestone by dismissing Alzarri Joseph. Ashwin’s achievement highlights his remarkable career as a key spinner for the Indian team.

Having represented India for over a decade, Ashwin currently holds the top spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings and is ranked second among all-rounders globally. He has amassed an impressive tally of 72 wickets in T20s, 151 wickets in ODIs, and a staggering 477 wickets in Test cricket. While he may no longer be a part of the Indian white-ball setup, Ashwin continues to exhibit his mastery in the longer format of the game.

Here are Ravichandran Ashwin’s records in International Cricket:

While Ashwin may not feature prominently in India’s white-ball squads, his consistent performances over the past decade underline the impact he has had on the team. In terms of the most international wickets by Indian bowlers, Anil Kumble leads the way with 956 wickets, followed by Harbhajan Singh with 711 wickets.

Since his debut in June 2010, no other player has managed to surpass the milestone of 650+ wickets in international cricket. The closest contender is New Zealand pacer Tim Southee with 636 wickets, albeit having played 28 more matches.

In the Test match against West Indies, Ashwin’s bowling prowess played a pivotal role in shifting the game’s momentum. He claimed four crucial wickets, breaking the backbone of the Caribbean side.
