Rishabh Pant to Captain Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025?

Amidst the uncertainty surrounding MS Dhoni's potential involvement in the 2025 IPL season, former wicketkeeper-batter Deep Dasgupta made a noteworthy statement in a video shared on the social media platform.

A former Indian cricketer turned commentator has made a significant statement, suggesting that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) could contemplate Rishabh Pant as a potential successor to MS Dhoni in IPL 2025 if the former Indian captain decides to retire. Despite Pant’s ongoing recovery, he is expected to lead the Delhi Capitals in the 2024 IPL season.

Dhoni, known for his illustrious IPL career, particularly with CSK, has been a subject of speculation regarding the future of his IPL journey. However, he has officially confirmed his return to captain CSK in the upcoming 2024 season, dispelling retirement rumors. Even at the age of 42, Dhoni remains a pivotal and influential figure in the league.

Amidst the uncertainty surrounding MS Dhoni’s potential involvement in the 2025 IPL season, former wicketkeeper-batter Deep Dasgupta made a noteworthy statement in a video shared on the social media platform ‘X,’ previously known as Twitter. Dasgupta suggests that it wouldn’t be surprising if CSK considers Rishabh Pant as a replacement for Dhoni, citing their similarity in thinking.

“Don’t be surprised if they get Rishabh Pant by IPL 2025. MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant are very close. Obviously, Rishabh adores MS, and MS also likes him very much. They spend a lot of time together. Their connection and Rishabh’s thinking are very similar, considering he is very attacking and positive. He’s always talking about winning and what not,” said Dasgupta.

Rishabh Pant, preparing for his comeback to competitive cricket, has recently joined the Delhi Capitals training camp in Kolkata. Despite his presence, he chose not to participate in the training sessions during the visit. Pant’s last appearance for India was in their Test against Bangladesh in Mirpur in December of the previous year, preceding a harrowing incident where his car collided with a divider and caught fire.
