Rohit and Virat Ready for Action in Ranji Trophy, Here’s How to Watch the LIVE Match on TV and Mobile- Note the Time

The 2024-25 season of the Ranji Trophy is being held in two phases. The first round was played from October 11, 2024, to November 16, 2024, and the second round will take place from January 23 to March 2, 2025. During the second round, league matches will be played from January 23 to January 26, and then from January 30 to February 2. After that, the quarter-final round will begin. Following India’s loss to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the BCCI has made it mandatory for all contracted cricketers to play domestic cricket, provided there are no fitness issues. As a result, even star players are now participating in the Ranji Trophy.

Star Players in Ranji Trophy

Star batter Virat Kohli is set to play his first Ranji Trophy match since 2012. He has made himself available for Delhi’s match against Railway, scheduled from January 30. Indian captain Rohit Sharma will also feature in the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai after a 10-year hiatus. Rohit will play under Ajinkya Rahane’s captaincy against Jammu and Kashmir. Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who recently participated in Saurashtra’s practice session in Rajkot, will also be playing in the Ranji Trophy match against Delhi starting on January 23. Jadeja last played for Saurashtra in January 2023.

Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant to Feature

Shubman Gill will play for Punjab against Karnataka, and Rishabh Pant will represent Delhi in their upcoming Ranji match. Pant has made himself available for Delhi’s match against Saurashtra in Rajkot, starting January 23. Pant last played in the Ranji Trophy for Delhi during the 2017-18 season. Gill, on the other hand, will play for Punjab against Karnataka from January 23.

Ranji Trophy 2024-25 Format

The Ranji Trophy 2024-25 features 38 teams, divided into five groups. There are four Elite Groups (A, B, C, and D), each with eight teams, while the remaining six teams are placed in a separate Plate Group.

  • Elite A: Mumbai, Baroda, Services, Jammu & Kashmir, Tripura, Maharashtra, Odisha, Meghalaya

  • Elite C: Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, Bengal, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar
  • Elite D: Tamil Nadu, Saurashtra, Railways, Delhi, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Chandigarh
  • Plate: Goa, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh
