Former India batter Wasim Jaffer believes that the openers will be crucial in determining the World Test Championship Final. The summit clash between India and Australia will take place at The Oval on June 7th. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are expected to open the Indian innings against Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins’ pace attack.
Jaffer told the Indian Express that England was the most difficult place to bat because of the five-day movement.
“Openers will have to play a massive role. England is the most challenging place to bat because of the sideways movement. Conditions change so drastically because of the weather. It changes quickly. The duke’s ball also poses a lot of problems. As the ball gets old, it will keep swinging and also starts to reverse. With Starc and Cummins, running at 145 kph, it is going to be challenging,” says Jaffer.

In terms of the Australian bowling unit, Jaffer believes Pat Cummins is the bowler India should be wary of.
“With the duke’s balls, Cummins will be a different beast.” If the conditions are slightly in their favor, they will make life difficult for the Indian openers,” Jaffer said in the interview.
