WTC Final 2023: Ishan Kishan Injured in Nets

Injury concern for India ahead of WTC Final 2023

India and Australia are preparing to face off in the World Test Championships Final at the Oval in London, which begins on Wednesday. Both teams have injury concerns ahead of the title match, with Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood ruled out and Indian wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan injured in the nets.

Before the World T20 Final, Team India cricketers hit the net for the first time at the Oval. A rising delivery from India’s net bowler Aniket Chowdhury struck Mumbai Indians opener Kishan on the hand. Kishan was seen for the rest of the net session with a bandage on the hand where he was hit.

With regular wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant out injured, the wicketkeeper slot in the final against Australia is a toss-up between Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat. Yuzvendra Chahal of the Rajasthan Royals and Team India believes India will miss Pant, but both Bharat and Kishan have enough experience.

Bharat has appeared in four Tests for India, whereas Kishan has yet to make his national team debut in the longest format.

Former Australian all-rounder and Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody selected Bharat ahead of Kishan in his India playing XI for the WTC final against Australia a few days ago.
