Not only did Sharma score a century, but he also led his team to an innings and 141-run win, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most Test wins as captain of India.

From the very beginning, Sharma’s team dominated the game, with Yashasvi Jaiswal also making a century on his Test debut. West Indies were never able to challenge India and were ultimately bowled out for just 130 in their second innings.

With this win, Sharma has now guided India to five victories in eight Tests, surpassing Tendulkar’s previous tally of four. He joins an elite group as the third Indian captain to achieve this feat, following in the footsteps of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni.

Virat Kohli holds the record for the most Test wins as captain, with an impressive 40 victories in 68 matches. Kohli stepped down from captaincy in January 2022, leaving behind a remarkable legacy. MS Dhoni retired with 27 wins from 60 matches, while Sourav Ganguly secured third place with 21 wins from 49 matches.

With his latest triumph, Sharma now occupies the fourth spot on the list of most Test wins by Indian captains. He is only 19 wins behind Kohli and will undoubtedly aim to narrow the gap in the years to come.
