Sarfaraz Khan, born and raised in the suburbs of Mumbai, comes from a family originally from Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. His formative years were spent honing his cricket skills at Azad Maidan, where his father and coach, Naushad Khan, mentored young talents like Iqbal Abdulla and Kamran Khan. Recognizing Sarfaraz’s natural ability to time the ball well, his father began coaching him at a young age.

To overcome the challenge of traveling to the grounds during monsoon season, a synthetic pitch was installed near their home, allowing Sarfaraz to practice conveniently. Due to his cricket commitments, he missed four years of schooling, necessitating the employment of a private tutor to ensure he didn’t fall behind in subjects like maths and English.

Sarfaraz Khan Domestic Career

Sarfaraz Khan rose to prominence when he smashed the Harris Shield record, previously held by Sachin Tendulkar since 1988, by scoring an incredible 439 runs off 421 balls in his debut match for Rizvi Springfield school at the age of just 12. This remarkable innings included 56 fours and 12 sixes. Subsequently, he impressed for the Mumbai Under-19 team, earning a spot in the Indian Under-19 squad.

His talent was further showcased in 2013 when he scored a match-winning 101 runs off just 66 balls against South Africa Under-19s, receiving praise from Bharat Arun, the head coach at the time, for his versatility and shot selection.
