After numerous changes in the recent past, the ICC World Cup 2023 schedule could once again be adjusted. The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has notified the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about their potential challenges in hosting back-to-back matches.
On October 9, the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad is set to hold the match between New Zealand and Netherlands, followed by another match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan on the following day at the same venue.
Security apprehensions have been voiced by the Hyderabad Police due to the absence of a gap between these two matches. The authorities are particularly concerned about the fixture involving Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Originally set for October 12, the match was rescheduled due to the rescheduling of the India-Pakistan match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to October 14. This adjustment was made to allow Pakistan sufficient recovery time between matches.
