Shahid Afridi Breaks Silence on Champions Trophy Controversy, Accuses ICC and Says Pakistan Should Not Go to India

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has shared his views on the Champions Trophy controversy. He advised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to avoid sending the national team to India for any ICC tournament or cricket competition until India agrees to send its team to Pakistan. Speaking at a conference, Afridi advocated for a tough stance on cricketing relations with India, stating that Pakistan must become self-reliant to make strong decisions.

He said, “Pakistan cricket should make principled decisions while becoming strong and self-reliant. If India cannot come to Pakistan to play, there is no reason for us to go to India to play.”

The Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place in Pakistan between February and March next year. India has refused to play its matches in Pakistan and has instead demanded that the tournament be held in a ‘hybrid model,’ allowing it to play its matches at neutral venues.

Afridi further stated that the ICC must now decide whether it only wants to make money or if it will fulfill its responsibility by ensuring that each member country gets the opportunity to play cricket.
