In a significant development ahead of the IPL 2024 season, Shubman Gill has been appointed as the captain of the Gujarat Titans, succeeding Hardik Pandya, who has been officially traded to the Mumbai Indians. Gill’s innings surpassed Virender Sehwag’s 122 for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) against Chennai Super Kings in 2014. Additionally, it stood as the third-highest score in a T20 playoffs game, trailing only Chris Gayle’s 146 for Rangpur Riders in 2017 and Tamim Iqbal’s 141 for Comilla Victorians in 2019.
