Sri Lanka Cricket Board has announced that effective immediately from 7th November 2022, the Sri Lankan cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka is suspended from all forms of cricket, whether international or domestic. This has happened because Danushka Gunathilaka was arrested on Sunday on accusations of rape in Sydney.
The serious crime accusations led the Sri Lankan Cricket Board to conduct an emergency meeting in which it was decided that the left-handed batter Danushka Gunathialaka would not be considered for any teams whatsoever in future until a definite answer to his crime comes forward.

The Sri Lankan Cricket Board announced in a press release, “Furthermore, Sri Lanka Cricket will take the necessary steps to promptly carry out an inquiry into the alleged offense, and, upon conclusion of the aforementioned court case in Australia, steps will be taken to penalize the said player if found guilty.”
“Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to emphasize that it adopts a “zero tolerance” policy for any such conduct by a player and will provide all the required support to the Australian law enforcement authorities to carry out an impartial inquiry into the incident,” It was also added by the Sri Lankan Cricket Board in the press conference.
