India has won the T20 World Cup 2024, defeating South Africa in a thrilling match. Kohli’s fighting knock, Axar’s all-round brilliance, Bumrah and Arshdeep’s tight bowling, Surya’s catch and Hardik’s superb bowling made history. This time, the winning team, India, received double the prize money compared to 2007. Dhoni’s team in 2007 received ₹9.84 crore, whereas Rohit’s bunch received ₹20.42 crore this time.

The prize money in the T20 World Cup 2024 was awarded to honour the hardwork and performance of the players. India, the T20 World Champion, received a hefty prize of $2.45 million (approximately ₹20.42 crore). Meanwhile, the runner-up, South Africa, was honoured with $1.28 million (approximately ₹10.67 crore) in prize money.

BCCI’s Announcement for Prize Money

Jay Shah, the honorary secretary of BCCI announced on Sunday that the Indian Cricket Team will receive a prize money of ₹125 Crore for their T20 World Cup winning performance.

T20 World Cup 2007 Prize Money for Winners & Runner-up

The prize pool for the T20 World Cup 2024 is the largest ever, surpassing all previous editions. From the first T20 World Cup in 2007 until now, the prize money for both the winner and runner-up teams has significantly increased. In 2007, India received ₹9.84 crore, while runner-up Pakistan received ₹4.92 crore.

From 2016 to 2022, winners received ₹13.12 crore, which was double the ₹6.56 crore received by the runners-up. In 2024, this amount has further increased to ₹20.42 crore.
