    Here’s how the action unfolded:

Apart from Smriti Mandhana, no Indian batter showed any promise, falling in quick succession one after another. Even the captain, Mithali Raj, was able to score a meagre nine off 36 balls, and Pakistan seemed to dominate the proceedings after Smriti Mandhana, too, fell at 52.

At 114-6 in 34 overs, India could only hope for a miracle to save their face in the inaugural match at the world cup. The batting duo of Pooja Vastrakar and Sneha Rana took it upon themselves to exhibit a brilliant comeback against a relentless Pakistani bowling line-up.

Vastrakar and Rana forged a fantastic partnership to take India to a respectable total against their arch-nemesis. They collectively scored 122 runs in just 96 balls. Vastrakar scored 67 off 59 and Rana a stellar 53, not out to give India a fighting chance against their arch-rivals.

Chasing 245, Pakistan never looked comfortable and managed only 137 runs in 43 overs against the determined Indian bowling line-up. Gayakwad took four wickets for 31 in her quota of 10 overs, while Rana and Goswami each took two wickets for the Indian team.

With this clinical performance, India has kept its record of being undefeated by Pakistan in the Women’s World Cup. The huge victory has skyrocketed India to the top of the points table with a net run-rate of over +2.

Pooja Vastrakar, who was unable to take the field due to an injury suffered while batting, was crowned the player’s woman for her blazing innings. India physio has confirmed that she will participate in the next match for India.

Summary of West Indies T20I Series Win Against England

The recently concluded series between West Indies and England had all the thriller, a cricket match needs to have in its pocket. Before beginning the series, West Indies suffered a humiliating series loss against Ireland at their home and now they had to face the number 1 T20 International side England.

The series was expected to be a dead rubber, however West Indies produced one of the most exciting series for their fans. As, they successfully managed to clinch the series with 3-2.

After winning the toss, Kieron Pollard opted to bat first and set a total in front of visitors. A collective team effort helped in scoring 179 runs, with captain leading from front and being  the top scorer for the team. England needed 180 runs in 20 overs with a required run rate of 9 per over.

England started off poorly with both their openers Jason Roy & Tom Banton been sent back to dressing room for merely 8 & 16 runs respectively. England were searching for a partnership to chase down the total. From England’s camp, James Vince rose up for the occasion, however he fell in the trap of Akeal Hosein at the score of 55.

England were still 68 runs short from the target with 39 balls left. Although, the equation was not a big deal but wickets in hand was a concern for them. Sam Billings played an exceptional knock, however he did not gained any support from the other end which made the chase unachievable.

In the final over of the game, England required 20 runs to seal the series which was quite an impossible task, since only Sam Billings could make it possible. Jason Holder started the over with a no ball, only to rise a ray of hope in the England camp. This was short lived. As, every batter who started hitting Jason Holder’s ball could only find the hands of fielder to be dismissed

What happened next? A rare feat was achieved by Holder, which has been previously done thrice only by Lasith Malinga, Rashid Khan and Curtis Campher. He took four wickets in four balls and sent back England’s batter with a ball to spare. Holder took the wickets of Chris Jordan 7 (10 balls), Sam Billings 41 (28 balls), Adil Rashid 0 (1) & Saqib Mahmood 0 (1).

With this, West Indies defeated England with a ball to spare and clinched the historic series win. Moreover, Jason Holder joined the exclusive club of double hattrick bowlers.

  • Top 5 Reasons Why India Lost Against South Africa?

Top 5 Reasons Why India Lost Against South Africa?

Indian Cricket Team is going through the hurdles in the recent time whether it’s related to all the controversies been around the team, including Virat Kohli & Sourav Ganguly rift or fight rumors between Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli. The team is in rough phase and in a transition period, which is clearly affecting the performance of team on field.

India has suffered many upsets in the previous 3-6 months one after the other. This includes India’s early exit from T20 World Cup without even qualifying for semi-finals. Under the leadership of Virat Kohli, India emerged victorious in many test and was certainly the best test side. Moreover, no one was expecting that a young South African side could beat this experienced Indian team in test series. The other shocking event was followed when Virat Kohli announced his resignation from test captaincy after the series.

Now, the men in blue under the newly appointed captain KL Rahul ( due to Rohit’s absence) had a goal to beat South Africa in ODI, which seemed quite easy. However, fate had other plans and India suffered a humiliating loss to South Africa after been whitewashed in the series(3-0).

Let’s recapitulate the possible reasons for India’s defeat-

    1) KL Rahul Poor Batting Performance

The captaincy role did certainly affected KL Rahul’s batting as he played a tortoise inning, while managing only 76 runs in 3 ODI matches. Thus, Indian team lacked a solid foundation from top order batsman.

    2) Absence of Rohit Sharma

Indian Team missed their man in form Rohit Sharma at the top of the order on South Africa tour. Rohit is on the peak of his batting form, whether we talk about his batting in test match or ODI or T20. Moreover, Rohit as an experienced leader was missed in the ODI series too.

    3) Limited Bowling Options

In the recent times, India has adopted a weird policy of having only 5 bowling options in a match, even though Bhuvneshwar Kumar & Shardul Thakur were quite expensive, they didn’t try out Venkatesh Iyer as a bowler. If stats are to be compared, then this Indian bowling is worst in the last 5-6 years according to wicket taking ability, as Jasprit Bumrah is the lone survivor stepping up in every circumstance for a wicket.

Bhuvneshvar Kumar is one of the biggest dissapointments for Indian Cricket. They should definitely try youngster in replace of him.

    4) Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer was a consistent performer for India in the middle batting order, however after his shoulder injury last year, he hasn’t quite been up to the par in performance and he lacked his worth in this ODI series.

    5) Batting Collapses

India has developed an unhealthy habit of having batting collapse just at the moment when everything is going in their favor. It happened in the ODI series as well when Indian batting order collapsed- 7 wickets for 76 runs. India is surely missing the services of M.S Dhoni- the batsman.

We all want Indian Cricket Team to dominate the world cricket as they had conquered and breached every fortress of cricketing nation. We all our fans of Team India, not merely a winning or losing team India. We believe in you and you will rise again to achieved greater heights and success.
