Top 7 Players Expected to Score 200 Runs in ODIs in 2023

Can Virat Kohli score a double hundred in ODIs?

Ishan Kishan scored the fastest double century (200) in ODIs in just 126 balls against Bangladesh in December 2022 then Shubman Gill became the youngest-ever batter at the age of 23 to score a double century against New Zealand in the first ODI of New Zealand’s tour to India in January 2023. India now has five batters, including Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan, who have gone past the milestone of 200 runs in ODIs. A total of 10 double centuries have been scored in ODIs till now, and three of them have been scored by Rohit Sharma. Here we have covered the 7 batters in the cricket world who can score a double century in 2023 in ODIs.

Top 7 Players Expected to Score 200 Runs in ODIs in 2023

1- Virat Kohli

A double century in ODIs is probably the only thing that Virat Kohli is yet to achieve in the 50-over game. Recently, Kohli played a flamboyant unbeaten knock of 166 against Sri Lanka, and fans were clamouring on social media that if he had 10 balls more, then Virat Kohli would have been one of the few double centurions in ODI cricket. It is highly possible that the attacking approach with which Virat Kohli is batting a 200 will soon flow from his bat in ODIs.

2- Jonny Bairstow

Jonny Bairstow is currently out of cricket due to an injury. However, he is going to make a return before this year’s IPL. Bairstow is one of the most attacking openers in ODI cricket. On the flat Indian pitches, he can be the batter who goes past a double century in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023.

3- Devon Conway

Devon Conway is one of the most consistent batters in the cricket world right now. Since his debut in 2020, the left-handed batter has been phenomenal in ODI cricket. Devon Conway can be among the top run-getters in the upcoming ODI World Cup. He is surely a bankable batter and has the game to hit boundaries at ease when he gets set. The Kiwi batter is the most likely New Zealand batter right now to hit 200 runs in an ODI match.

4- Travis Head

The left-handed batter has risen in world cricket in the past couple of years. He is the first-choice opener for Australia in 50-over cricket. Head plays a serious brand of attacking cricket which makes him a hot favourite among the current generation of cricketers who can score a double century.

5- Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma is the only batter to score three double centuries in ODI cricket. He is back in form with a century against New Zealand. This year the ODI World Cup is in India, and the Indian captain can certainly notch up his fourth double hundred in the 50-over format of the game.

6- Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill became the youngest-ever batter to score a double century in ODI cricket when he smashed the Kiwi bowlers all around the park in the recently concluded series between India and New Zealand. Shubman is going to open for India in the upcoming ODI World Cup, and he can become the batter to cross the mark of 200 runs twice in ODIs this year.

7- Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan was the youngest batter to score a double century before Shubman Gill broke his record. Team India has decided that Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are going to be the first-choice openers in ODIs. However, Ishan Kishan is one of the reserve openers who can step up when the team is in need. The fearless cricketer has all the qualities to go past 200 runs in ODIs for the second time.
