Virat Kohli Can Break Sachin Tendulkar and Sir Don Bradman’s Records in Kanpur Test Against Bangladesh

The Indian team is currently playing a two-match Test series at home against Bangladesh, having secured a 280-run victory in the first match. The second and final Test match of the series will be held at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium starting September 27.

If India wins the second Test, they will clean sweep the series against Bangladesh. The Indian players have now arrived in Kanpur, and photos of the team, including captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, have gone viral on social media, showcasing their excitement.

Fans have high expectations for Virat Kohli in the Kanpur Test. However, he struggled with the bat in the first Test of the series, scoring only 6 runs in the first innings and 17 in the second. If Kohli finds form in Kanpur, he could break several records.

First Record: Sachin Tendulkar’s Milestone

Kohli has a golden opportunity to break records held by Sachin Tendulkar and Sir Don Bradman in this Test. If Kohli scores 35 runs in the Kanpur Test, he will set the record for the fastest 27,000 runs in Test cricket. Currently, this record is held by Tendulkar, who achieved this feat in 623 innings. Kohli has amassed 26,965 runs in 593 innings across 534 Test matches. While Kohli has time to surpass Tendulkar’s record, he aims to achieve this milestone in Kanpur.

Could Kohli Overtake Sir Don Bradman?

If Kohli scores a century in the Kanpur Test, he will surpass Australian legend Sir Don Bradman. Kohli is currently tied with Bradman at 29 centuries. By scoring his 30th Test century, Kohli will match the record of Matthew Hayden and Shivnarine Chanderpaul.

Joining the Elite Club of Sachin, Gavaskar, and Dravid

If Kohli shines in the Kanpur Test and accumulates a total of 129 runs in both innings, he will achieve another significant milestone. He will reach 9,000 Test runs, becoming the fourth Indian player after Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, and Rahul Dravid, and the 17th batsman in world cricket to achieve this.

Impressive Records in Fours and Catches

Kohli also has a chance to set a remarkable record for boundaries. Currently, he has 993 fours in 114 Tests. If he hits 7 more fours, he will join the exclusive club of players with 1,000 Test fours.

Additionally, Kohli has the opportunity to set a record in fielding as well. He has taken 113 catches in his Test career so far. If he grabs 2 more catches in the Kanpur Test, he will surpass Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli would then rank third among Indian players for the most catches, behind Rahul Dravid (210 catches) and VVS Laxman (135 catches).
