Experience the thrilling moments of the WPL 2023 final as Mumbai Indians (MI) triumphed over Delhi Capitals (DC), thanks to Amanjot Kaur’s amazing on-field skills that got rid of DC captain Meg Lanning.
In the 12th over, Lanning mistimed a punch to the right of cover, and the two batters hesitated before going for a single. Sensing an opportunity, Amanjot swooped in and picked up the ball, firing a flat throw to wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia, who quickly collected the ball and got rid of the DC captain. Lanning’s dismissal was the turning point of the first innings, leaving DC struggling at 74-5 in 11.4 overs.

Despite winning the toss, DC’s Meg Lanning lost the plot as wickets tumbled from the second over. MI’s Issy Wong destroyed the top-order with bouncers as Shafali Verma, Alice Capsey, and Jemimah Rodrigues played it straight into the hands of MI fielders. Amelia Kerr then scalped a couple of wickets, including Marizanne Kapp, who had built a short partnership with Lanning. After Lanning’s dismissal, DC’s hopes of putting up a fighting score were dashed, with the team eventually tottering at 79-9 in 16 overs.
