Despite his success in the ODI format, Gill struggled in T20Is and faced questions about his place in the team. However, his skipper, Hardik Pandya, had full faith in the opener and encouraged him to play his natural game.

Hardik Pandya, skipper and Gill’s close friend and teammate at Gujarat Titans. Pandya showed unwavering faith in the opener and gave him the confidence he needed to shine. In the post-match conference, Shubman Gill credited Pandya for his trust and support, saying, “I wasn’t performing well in T20Is, but you gave me the confidence I needed. You told me to play my natural game, and those small things really help.”

Gill also gave a shoutout to his father, who he credits with 90% of his success due to the countless hours of practice he put in. With this remarkable century, Shubman Gill has solidified his place in the Indian cricket team.
