Shubman Gill has been appointed the new Test captain, with Rishabh Pant serving as the vice-captain. Since the series is not too far away, it’s important to know the exact match timings so you don’t miss any action.
India vs England Test Series: First Match from June 20, Starts at 3:30 PM IST
The first Test of the five-match series between India and England will begin on 20th June. Before the main series, a couple of four-day practice matches will be played, although some players may not feature in those games. Therefore, all eyes are on the five Tests. The opening match will be played at Headingley, Leeds – a venue with a rich cricketing history.
The matches will begin at 3:30 PM IST each day, with the toss taking place at 3:00 PM on the first day. On the following days, the match will directly start at 3:30 PM. If weather permits and there is no rain interruption, this timing will remain constant. In case of rain delays, the start time could be advanced to ensure full overs are bowled. However, as per the current schedule, 3:30 PM IST is the official start time.
Part of the World Test Championship
This series is part of the third cycle of the ICC World Test Championship. The final match of the series will begin on 31st July and end on 4th August, stretching the series well into August. Tough Test Awaits for Shubman Gill and Team India
This series will be a challenging test for Shubman Gill and his team. Although Gill has captained India in some T20 internationals, this will be his first time leading in the Test format. With senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli not part of the squad, the Indian batting line-up looks relatively inexperienced. It remains to be seen how the young Indian side performs on English soil, especially since England are known to be formidable at home. The series promises to be competitive and exciting.
