Virat Kohli’s participation in the T20 World Cup 2024 appears doubtful at the moment. In a recent five-hour selection meeting in Delhi, Captain Rohit Sharma, Head Coach Rahul Dravid, and the selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, outlined plans for the upcoming ICC event.
Although BCCI officials, including Secretary Amit Shah and Vice-President Rajeev Shukla, leaned towards appointing 36-year-old Rohit Sharma as the leader for Team India, a decision on Virat Kohli’s T20I career remains pending. Discussions with the former India captain about his T20I plans are scheduled to happen soon.

The selectors are actively seeking an aggressive batsman for the number three position, with Shreyas Iyer emerging as the leading contender. Iyer has previously played for India at number three and has a good record at the slot. He is an attacking batter who takes the bowler head on.
With Iyer at 3, India can slot Suryakumar Yadav at 4, Rinku Singh at 5 and Jitesh Sharma at 6. This makes the Indian batting line-up a complete T20 package that is required to win the T20 World Cup 2024.
