16 years ago DRS (Decision Review System) technology was implemented for the first time in a test match between India and Sri Lanka. Something happened in this match due to which the name of India’s former explosive opener Virender Sehwag was recorded in history. Indian team was on tour of Sri Lanka in the year 2008, then DRS was used as a trial. Virender Sehwag became the first batsman in the world to be out by DRS technology.
DRS (Decision Review System) technology was in the news in the Colombo Test match between India and Sri Lanka which started on 23 July 2008. On the fourth day of this Test match, India’s opener Virender Sehwag was given out LBW on Muttiah Muralitharan’s ball in the second innings using DRS technology. Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan’s ball hit Sehwag’s pad, after which the on-field umpire rejected the LBW appeal. After this, the Sri Lankan team took DRS.
DRS technology showed in the replay that the ball was hitting the middle stump, after which Virender Sehwag had to return to the pavilion after getting out. In this way, Sehwag became the world’s first batsman to be given out by the third umpire using DRS technology. Let us tell you that in this match, India was defeated by Sri Lanka by an innings and 239 runs. Sehwag scored 25 runs in the first innings and 13 runs in the second innings.

Bowlers from all over the world were afraid of Virender Sehwag’s batting. Virender Sehwag scored 8586 runs in 104 Tests at an average of 49.34 which included 23 centuries and 32 half-centuries. His best score has been 319. Veeru scored 8273 runs in 251 ODIs which included 15 centuries and 38 half-centuries. Veeru’s best score in this format is 219. Apart from this, Veeru scored 394 runs in 19 T20 matches, in which 68 runs was his highest score.
