Women’s CWC 2022: England Flattens Pakistan by 9 Wickets

Defending champions England Women registered a thumping victory over Pakistan Women to massively improve their net run rate and keep the hopes of making semi-finals in the Women’s World Cup 2022.

England Women have moved up to the 4th position displacing India Women in the points table with 3 wins in 6 games and a healthy net run rate of +0.778. Both India and England have one much left in the tournament to decide their fates. If both the teams win their next match, both will qualify for the semis. However, if one team loses the subsequent encounter, West Indies will go into the semi-finals.

Here’s how the match that changed all equations panned out:

England Women won the toss and predictably chose to bowl first. Invited to bat first, Pakistan had a horrible start by losing Nahida Khan on the first bowl of the match. Pakistan never really recovered from this early blow and continued losing wickets at regular intervals to post a meagre total on the board.

Katherine Brunt and Ecclestone dismantled the Pakistani batting line-up by removing three batters each. For Pakistan, only Ameen and Sidra Nawaz could score in the double figures, with Ameen being the top scorer with a knock of 33 in 77 deliveries.

Pakistan folded up on 105 in 41.3 overs to end their miserable batting tale against the England Women.

Chasing 106, England only lost Beaumont and reached the target with 30 overs and 9 wickets to spare. Danielle Wyatt notched up an extraordinary half-century to guide her team to the victory.

Danielle Wyatt was named player of the match for her incredible batting performance took England to the 4th position in the points table at Women’s CWC 2022.
