Women’s CWC 2022: India Thrashed Bangladesh by 110 Runs

India Women defetaed Bangladesh Women by a huge margin of 110 runs to secure their fourth victory of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 at Seddon Park, Hamilton in New Zealand. India have climbed up a spot to land on the 3rd position in the points table above West Indies Women after improving their net run-rate massively with a thumping victory.

Under huge pressure to perform in this match India Women opted to bat first to get out of the crux in the tournament. Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana did exactly what they are known for, the duo gave India a quick fire start and displayed an urgency in scoring rate which was missing in the earlier matches.

Shefali scored a run a ball 42 with 6 fours and a gigantic six. The opening duo formed a formidable partnership of 74 runs which was broken by Nahdia Akter by dismissing Mandhana at 30. Mandhana was succeeded by Yastika Bhatia, who was the star of the game for India with the bat. She notched up a half-century in 80 balls to consolidate the Indian inning.

Mithali Raj once again slumped after showcasing a brilliant batting display against Australia in India Women’s previous outing. Ritu Moni dismissed her for a golden duck, and went on to pick crucial wickets for Bangladesh Women, including Yastika and Shefali.

Sneh Rana and Pooja Vastrakar proved again that they are able to play the role of finishers for India Women. Rana scored 27 off 23, while Vastrakar notched up 30 off 33 deliveries. India Women finished with 229/7 in 50 overs to put up a fighting total on the board.

Chasing 230, Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals to deny themselves any chance of securing the victory. After a dismal display of bowling against Australia, India Women were on a mission to prove their mettle in this important game. Sneh Rana, the Indian sensation in World Cup picked up 4 wickets, while Jhulan Goswami, the veteran accounted for 2 Bangladeshi batters.

India Women restricted Bangladesh on 119 in about 40 overs to win the match by 110 runs. Yastika Bhatia was named player of the match for her enterprising knock.
