The Board of Cricket Council of India has announced that Jasprit Bumrah will fly to New Zealand to get a back surgery. Bumrah wil miss the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League and World Test Championship final. He will take about 24 weeks in the rehabilitation process after the surgery to get back to full fitness.

However, this timeline is not set in stone and Jasprit Bumrah can end up missing the 50 Over World Cup in 2023 which is scheduled to be played in October and November in India. Bumrah is India’s main pacer and without him the Indian cricket team will surely become vulnerable in the death overs in World Cup 2023.

The latest turn of events suggests that Jasprit Bumrah is highly doubtful for the upcoming World Cup and the Board of Cricket Council of India needs to start looking at his replacements to prepare a team which can face the opponents without having Bumrah in it.

Mohammed Siraj is going to be India’s ace pacer in the World Cup 2023 and Mohammed Shami will also be in the squad. India may look at Deepak Chahar and Arshdeep Singh for the third pace bowling option in the upcoming World Cup.
