India’s cricket world has been struck with unfortunate news as one of their rising fast bowlers, Prasidh Krishna, has been ruled out of the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup. The 26-year-old speedster has been struggling with a stress fracture and is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. According to a recent PTI report, it’s unlikely that Prasidh will be able to recover in time for the World Cup and make it to the final roster.
This is a huge loss for the Indian cricket team as Prasidh has been a standout player in the limited opportunities he’s had so far. In 14 ODIs, he has claimed 25 wickets with a remarkable average of 23.92 and an impressive economy rate of 5.32. He has been a key player in India’s fast bowling department and his absence will definitely leave a huge void in the team.
A BCCI source stated that the recovery time for a stress fracture injury varies from player to player and can take anywhere from six months to a year. Unfortunately, Prasidh’s injury is severe, and he may miss out on a considerable amount of games. The Indian cricket fans are surely disappointed to hear this news and will hope for a speedy recovery for the young pacer.
