After India’s 9-wicket defeat against Australia in the Indore Test match, the way to reach the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) has once again become extremely difficult.
The Australian team has secured its place in the final of the second edition of the World Test Championship with 68.52 percentage points.
Where Australia has confirmed its place in the final of the World Test Championship 2023, the Indian team will now have to resort to these equations to make a place. At present, Team India is at the second position on the points table with 60.29 percentage points. If the Indian team manages to win the last Test against Australia, they will get direct qualification to the WTC Final.
On the other hand, if the Indian team faces defeat or a draw in the last Test, the Sri Lankan team will also have the hope of reaching the finals. For this, Sri Lanka will have to win all the matches in the 2-match Test series to be played on the upcoming tour of New Zealand.
The Sri Lankan team is currently at the third place on the points table with 53.33 percent points. If they succeed in eliminating New Zealand in the Test series, they will be able to finish this edition of WTC with 61.11 percentage points.
Team India will now be facing Australia in the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting from 9 March. Team India will try to win that match at any cost as they would get direct qualification to the WTC final if they win the series by 3-1.
