The Netherlands defeated Zimbabwe with 12 balls to spare in the recently concluded ZIM vs NED clash in the Super 12 of ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The Dutch team relied on the success of Max ODowd and Paul Van Meekeren to win the match. This is the first win of the Netherlands in the Super 12. They are almost out of the race for the semifinals, but this definitely boosts their confidence as Zimbabwe has defeated Pakistan in a thrilling match in the same tournament.

Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to bat first at the Adelaide Oval. They opened the inning with the pair of Madhevere and Ervine. The opening failed miserably, and Zimbabwe found themselves in deep trouble at 20/3 in 6 overs. It was then we saw a fightback from Sikandar Raza and Sean Willaims to reignite the hopes in Zimbabwe’s dugout.
Together the duo constructed a crucial partnership of 48 runs, with Sikandar being the aggressor. However, the fireworks did not last for long as Sikandar lost his wicket at the score of 40 off 24. Following Raza’s wicket, the Zimbabwe cricket team found themselves in sort of trouble and could not find ways to make runs.

Ultimately Zimbabwe could only post a meagre total of 117 runs on the board. For the Netherlands, almost all of the bowlers bowled exceptionally well, with Meekeren taking 3 wickets and Klassen and Glover bagging two wickets each.
Chasing a small target Netherlands just needed someone to bat through the inning, and Max O’Dowd took the responsibility on his shoulders. He played a match-winning knock of 52 off 47. Max received support from Tom Cooper, who scored a significant 32 runs in the game. For Zimbabwe, Ngarava and Muzarabani took two wickets each, but it could not help them win the match as they had posted a below-par total on the board.
