The 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) player auction is scheduled for December 23 in Kochi. A total of 273 Indian players and 132 overseas players, including four from Associate countries, are available for selection. Of the final pool of 401 players, 119 are capped and 286 are uncapped. Teams will be looking to secure bowlers who can make an impact at various stages of the game.
Here’s a look at 5 seamers who can get a good amount in IPL 2023 Auction:
1. Shivam Mavi
Shivam Mavi is a highly talented cricketer who offers substantial value to any team he plays for. His searing pace and experience in the IPL make him a very valuable asset to any squad. Mavi is also a very reliable wicket-taking option, as evidenced by his recent performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Most teams would be wise to consider signing Shivam Mavi to their squad in IPL 2023 Auction.
2. Adam Milne
The Kiwi pacer is an experienced bowler who is known for his pace and ability to bowl in all phases of the game. Milne has featured in four seasons of the IPL so far, representing three teams. He was unfortunately cut short by injury during his stint with the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022.
One of Milne’s greatest strengths is his vast experience playing in T20 leagues across the globe. His ability to bowl slow balls and yorkers makes him a valuable asset to any team. With franchises expected to battle for his services ahead of the 2023 IPL season, he is sure to be a hot commodity.
3. Luke Wood
Luke Wood is a successful cricketer for England. He has played in 60 first-class matches and taken 132 wickets, averaging 35.18. In the shortest format of the game, he has 77 scalps in 84 games with an economy of 8.34.
Wood was excellent in The Hundred 2022, taking 10 wickets in nine games at an economy of 8.25. His bowling was instrumental in Trent Rockets’ maiden title triumph. As a left-arm pacer, Wood brings variety to a pace attack. His stature in the T20 world is on the rise, so many IPL franchises might consider signing him during the player auction. Thus, there could be a lot of teams bidding for his services. He is expected to get a good amount in IPL 2023 Auction.
4. Chris Jordan
Chris Jordan is a highly experienced death overs specialist, often coming in for the last two or three overs of an England match. His profile as an impact player is ideally suited to the T20 format. He’s had some significant successes as a death bowler, like his figures of 3/34 and 2/27 in the T20 World Cup semi-final and final this year. His yorkers were spot on and he made a real difference in those games. He’ll be heading into IPL 2023 full of confidence and looking to make an impact once again.
5. Daniel Sams
Daniel Sams is a left-arm seamer from Australia who can be both good and bad on any given day. When he’s on his game, he can be lethal, especially in final few overs. That makes him similar to Chris Jordan of England. Earlier this year, Sams showed both sides of his game while playing for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He was hit hard by Pat Cummins in a game against the Kolkata Knight Riders, giving up 35 runs in one over. But a few games later, he held his own against Gujarat Titans in the last over, only giving up three runs to help his team win by five. Sams isn’t consistent, but he has an unpredictable X factor that can be beneficial for a team if used properly depending on the game situation. He is currently playing for Sydney Thunders in BBL. Let’s see how he performs.
