Australia was chasing a small target of 76 runs in the fourth inning to win the 3rd Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne ensured that Australia gets a thumping victory by 9 wickets in the third Test.
Ashwin started off the proceedings with a great spell and dismissed Usman Khawaja for a duck on the second ball of today’s play. However, following that it was all Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne show.
Head in particular was brilliant against the spinners. He played a quick fire knock of 49* off just 53 to guide his team to the first victory of their tour to Australia. Marnus Labuschagne remained unbeaten on 28* off 58.
Earlier in the match India won the toss and only managed to score 109 runs in their first inning. Australia managed to score 197 runs during their first turn with the bat and got a lead of 88 runs. In the third inning of the Test match, India failed against the masterclass of Nathan Lyon and was bowled out on a paltry total of 163 runs.
The Test Series now stands at 2-1 with India still leading. However, the fourth and final Test at Ahmedabad will decide if India can win the series in an emphatic manner.
