The Australian cricket team captain Steve Smith won the toss and opted to bat first in the 4th Test of the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023. The first day of the Test match belonged to Australia due to the prolific batting by Usman Khawaja.

The pitch at Ahmedabad did not offer much to the pacers and spinners. In fact, there was zero hint of spin on the surface. 2nd session of the day’s play went wicketless and interestingly it was the first session in the entire series to conclude without a wicket.

Cameron Green took on the Indian bowlers after the new ball was brought into the play. Meanwhile, Usman Khawaja completed his century and still remains unbeaten.

Australia is 255/4 at the end of day 1 with Khawaja on 105 and Green on 49.
