KKR vs MI, the 14th match of Tata IPL 2022, was a thrilling encounter that saw Pat Cummins obliterate Mumbai Indians’ bowlers to somehow win the game for KKR with 4 overs to spare.

Pat Cummins equalled KL Rahul’s record of the fastest half-century in IPL history in only 14 balls. He remained unbeaten on 56* off 15 to win the match for KKR.

Earlier in the game, Mumbai Indians posted 161/4 on the board on a track that played sluggishly in the first inning.

    At the toss:

Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first in KKR vs MI clash. Iyer revealed that KKR had made two changes to its playing XI by bringing Pat Cummins and Rasikh Salam for Tim Southee and Shivam Mavi.

Mumbai Indians had also made two changes to its playing XI by including Dewald Brevis and Suryakumar Yadav for Tim David and Anmolpreet Singh.

    MI Innings:

MI had a slow start, with openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan finding it hard to time the ball. Their difficult stay at the crease hampered Mumbai Indians’ run rate in the KKR vs MI battle. Rohit Sharma scored 3 off 12, and Ishan Kishan could only muster 14 off 21.

Dewald Brevis made his debut for MI in the number 3 position and looked good in his first outing. He scored a quickfire 29 off 19 to slightly improve the scoring rate for Mumbai Indians. The debutant was removed by Varun Chakravarthy, who deceived him in the air to help cause a stumping.

Tilak Varma’s arrival on the crease infused the MI inning with much-needed energy. He and Suryakumar Yadav combined to up the ante for Mumbai Indians. Yadav scored a brilliant 52 off 36 to set the platform for lower-order batters,

Keiron Pollard destroyed KKR in the 5 balls that he faced. He hit 3 sixes and remained unbeaten on 22* off 5, while Varma played a handy knock of 38* off 27.

    KKR Innings:

KKR needed 162 to win the KKR vs MI encounter. They had hoped for a good start, but Anjikya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Sam Billings, Nitish Rana and Andre Russell all got out before reaching even 20 run mark. Tymal Mills and Murugan Ashwin removed two batters each of the lot mentioned.

On the other hand, Venkatesh Iyer played the role of a grinding anchor who stayed till the end to take his team towards the winning line. Pat Cummins joined him in the middle when KKR was 5 down on 101 in 13.1 overs.

Everyone believed that the match would go on till the last over, but Pat Cummins had something completely else going through his mind. He dismantled the star-studded bowling unit of Mumbai Indians and hit 10 balls for boundaries out of the 15 he faced in the match.

Pat Cummins changed the game on its head and made a mockery of MI bowlers to make his team triumph in KKR vs MI clash.
