Rajasthan Royals spinner Ravichandran Ashwin recently shared his thoughts on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mohsin Khan’s absence from the majority of the IPL 2023 season. Khan was one of the promising new players in last year’s IPL who took 14 wickets in nine matches with an under-6 economy and an average of 14.07. Unfortunately, he had to leave the tournament early after suffering discomfort and undergoing surgery to remove blood clots from his shoulder. While Khan is reportedly attending LSG’s training camp in Lucknow, he is unable to bowl due to shoulder discomfort.
During his YouTube channel’s preview of each of the ten teams, Ashwin spoke highly of Khan and expressed his disappointment upon learning that he would be missing out on most of IPL 2023. He said, “Oh no! In fact, people were saying that he is having the capability to even play for India. Anyway, that’s just sad.”

Apart from his thoughts on Khan’s absence, Ashwin also commended LSG’s auction strategy, especially for securing West Indian keeper-batter Nicholas Pooran for INR 16 Crores. The team also bought all-rounders Romario Shephard and Daniel Sams for under INR 1 Crore each, as well as Indian-capped bowlers Amit Mishra and Jaydev Unadkat. Ashwin said, “They had a terrific auction as they had Nicholas Pooran. Now they have Nicholas Pooran to complement Stoinis in finishing. In bowling, they have Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, and co.”
LSG, who reached the playoffs last year, will be looking to go further this season and even win the IPL 2023 title. Their first match will be against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 1. While they will miss the talented Mohsin Khan on the field, LSG is counting on their other strong players to lead them to victory.
