IPL 2022, LSG VS MI: KL Rahul powers Giants to the victory

LSG vs MI, the 37th match of Tata IPL 2022, was about KL Rahul’s epic ton that handed Mumbai Indians their 8th consecutive loss of the tournament.

LSG vs MI Highlights:

Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

LSG Inning:

Lucknow Super Giants had a slow start with Quinton de Kock departing at 10 off 9, and KL Rahul and Manish Pandey could not get going in the powerplay.

However, Pandey and Rahul did not throw their wicket and kept grinding hard until the 12th over. They constructed a 58 run stand to lay the foundation for Super Giants. Kieron Pollard broke the partnership with Pandey’s wicket.

Manish Pandey scored 22 off 22, and his dismissal brought on a flurry of wickets. Nevertheless, captain KL Rahul on the other end, went guns blazing and brought his third hundred against Mumbai Indians in IPL.

Rahul became the only batter after Virat Kohli to score two tons against the same opponent in a single edition of IPL. He remained unbeaten on 103* off 62, including 12 fours and 4 sixes to help his team post a fighting total of 168/6 in 20 overs.

MI Inning:

Mumbai Indians had a horrible start, with Ishan Kishan finding it hard to strike the ball. The southpaw could only muster 8 runs in the 20 balls he faced against Super Giants. Dewald Brevis and Suryakumar Yadav could not reach the double figures against Super Giants.

Rohit Sharma was going well from one end, but a rash shot led to his dismissal. He scored 39 off 31. Tilak Varma and Kieron Pollard tried forging a partnership to take MI close to the total vs LSG. However, they both departed in quick succession, and MI’s all hopes were destroyed in seconds.

Tilak Varma scored 38 off 27, while Pollard managed 19 off 20. In the end, MI fell short by 36 runs to concede their 8th loss of the tournament.
