Kane Williamson leaves the IPL bubble for the birth of his child

Kane Williamson, the skipper for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League, is going to leave the IPL bubble and will not feature against Punjab Kings in the last league game for his team at the group stage.

Williamson has received the news that his wife is going to give birth to their child, and so for that reason, he will leave the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp and go back to New Zealand to witness his child’s birth.

“Our skipper Kane Williamson is flying back to New Zealand to usher in the latest addition to his family. Here’s everyone at the #Riser camp wishing Kane Williamson and his wife a safe delivery and a lot of happiness!” said SRH’s official Twitter handle.

Williamson has been going through a lean patch in the tournament, with his strike rate being under 100. For a player of his calibre, he has not done justice to his talent in the ongoing edition of IPL.

Recently, Williamson demoted himself in the batting order against Mumbai Indians. His decision actually proved to be in the team’s favour as Priyam Garg played a fantastic knock as an opener.

Williamson, known for his selfless persona as a teammate, sacrificed his opening slot even though he is the captain of the side. It will be tough for the Sunrisers Hyderabad to face Punjab Kings in an almost virtual quarter-final without Williamson’s guidance.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is expected to captain the team in the absence of Kane Williamson. Bhuvi has experience of captaining the side on a few occasions already, so he will be entrusted with the job. Whether SRH will make it to the playoffs or not will decide the return of Williamson to India.
