Devon Conway, the left-handed opener of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has expressed his appreciation for skipper MS Dhoni for providing a secure and comfortable environment for players in the team. He acknowledged Dhoni’s backing and faith in his players, which helps them perform better on the field.
Conway has been a key player for CSK since he joined the team in 2022. In this IPL season, he has scored 322 runs in eight games with four fifty-plus scores and a best of 83. Speaking about his captain, Conway said that Dhoni’s experience and cool-headed approach have been very helpful for him. Dhoni’s calm and relaxed attitude helps Conway to enjoy the game and play with freedom.

Conway also spoke about his transition from Test cricket to T20I cricket, admitting that he had to change his batting style to suit T20 cricket. He added that he did not change much other than his mindset, which becomes more positive and attacking in T20 cricket.

Conway has limited expectations from himself and tries to enjoy his time with the CSK set-up. He emphasized that his goal is to go out there, be clear and focused, and perform his best for the team.
CSK is currently in fourth place on the IPL 2023 points table and will face Punjab Kings in Chennai on Sunday. CSK has a strong team with experienced players, and with Dhoni’s leadership and Conway’s form, they will undoubtedly put up a good show. Dhoni’s leadership qualities have always been lauded by his teammates, and Conway is just one of the many players who have praised his captaincy.
