Ricky Ponting recently discussed the banter within the WhatsApp group for commentators on The ICC Review show with host Sanjana Ganesan.

Despite lacking support, Ponting humorously mentioned that he has enough material to retaliate, pointing out that Nasser Hussain and Mike Atherton, unlike him, have never been part of a victorious Ashes team. Ponting admitted he tends to stay reserved until provoked, but when needed, he will stand up to defend himself and his country.

Ricky Ponting humorously mentioned that in the commentary box, he and Mark Taylor were the only Australians, with Mel Jones joining for the first couple of games, making them heavily outnumbered.

Former Australian players jokingly compared the English players’ frustration at not being able to return to the field to the feeling in the commentary box. Ponting playfully faced accusations of performing rain dances.

He believes he can hold his ground well and feels that spectators and even those in the commentary box still see him as part of the team, with the passion for the game as strong as when he was actively playing.
