The ICC Cricket World Cup, featuring ten teams, is set to commence in India on October 5, marking the start of its 13th edition. The tournament opener will see a rematch of the 2019 final, where the reigning champions, England, will face off against New Zealand at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. The grand finale of the 2023 edition is also scheduled to be held at the same venue on November 19.

The one-day international (ODI) competition is set to take place at ten different stadiums, spanning from Chennai in the south to Dharamsala in the north, Kolkata in the east, and Ahmedabad in the west.

These venues are spread across diverse locations throughout the country. They range from the coastal Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to the Dharamshala Stadium nestled amidst the picturesque mountains of Himachal Pradesh, as well as the Arun Jaitley Stadium situated in the heart of the capital, New Delhi.

It’s worth noting that some of these stadiums have undergone controversial renaming in recent years, often to honor former heads of state and prominent politicians. Most notably, in 2021, the Ahmedabad stadium was renamed in a surprise move just hours before its inauguration to honor the current Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
