Why Yash Dayal is the Worst Buy for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2024 Auction?

Yash Dayal is the worst buy for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2024 Auction

The IPL 2024 auction, featuring 333 registered players, concluded with 72 finding buyers among the ten participating franchises.

Held on December 19 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, this mini-auction set the stage for the upcoming tournament. Notably, Pat Cummins fetched an impressive INR 20.50 crore bid from Sunrisers Hyderabad, while Mitchell Starc secured an even higher bid of INR 24.75 crore from Kolkata Knight Riders, breaking the INR 20 Cr barrier in IPL auction history.

These acquisitions marked them as the two most expensive players ever sold. While other players received substantial bids, the reasons behind these purchases remain undisclosed by the franchises.

Yash Dayal- Worst Buy for RCB in IPL 2024 Auction

In the IPL 2024 auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) aimed to address their persistent bowling challenges by making substantial investments in top-quality bowlers. This strategy resulted in a formidable pace bowling lineup featuring Mohammed Siraj, Reece Topley, Cameron Green, Tom Curran, Lockie Ferguson, and Yash Dayal.

However, the decision to spend INR 5 Cr on Yash Dayal raises some questions. The left-arm seamer endured a challenging IPL 2023, marked by a morale-shattering moment when he conceded five sixes in an over to Rinku Singh and missed several games due to injury. Despite earning a maiden India call-up, Dayal’s battle with injuries adds an element of uncertainty regarding his performance in the demanding Chinnaswamy Stadium for RCB.
