Jasprit Bumrah injured his back ahead of the Asia Cup last month and missed the crucial tournament in UAE. He even went on to miss the T20 World Cup 2022, in which India lost the semi-final against England. Jadeja also missed out on the New Zealand and Bangladesh Tour. On both these tours, India lost at least one series.
In the Sri Lanka series, Jasprit Bumrah is again not included as he is still recovering from the injury at NCA. However, according to the sources, BCCI needs Jasprit Bumrah to make a comeback before the Border Gavaskar Trophy, which is scheduled to begin in February 2023.
Jasprit Bumrah has regained his fitness and is going through mandatory fitness tests at NCA. He is expected to return in the ODI series against New Zealand. This ODI series will begin on 18th January 2023. BCCI has recently said that it wants the Indian players to be completely fit before playing for India, and this is the only reason Bumrah has missed out on the series against Sri Lanka.
