Babar Azam did a press conference on 8th January 2023 to answer questions about the ODI series against New Zealand, which is scheduled to start on 9th January 2023. The reporters present at the press conference asked Babar Azam questions relating to Sarfaraz Ahmed and the recent Test losses.

Babar Azam seemed enraged with the reporters as he told them he is here to win matches for Pakistan and not answer needless questions that did not relate to the ODI series against New Zealand. There were rumours that Babar Azam did not know that Shan Masood was named the vice-captain of the ODI series by the PCB selection committee headed by Shahid Afridi.

Babar Azam said, “my job is to play cricket and enjoy it. I don’t have to answer anyone or satisfy anybody. I know what my responsibility is. I don’t have to make anyone happy, my job is to help Pakistan win.”
