Only a few bowlers have conceded 36 or more runs in a single over in T20Is. The first one to concede 36 runs was a young Stuart Broad who went for six consecutive sixes against India in the 2007 T20 World Cup. Since then, a couple of bowlers have equalled his infamous record and here we have covered them all.
In the 2007 T20 World Cup, Yuvraj Singh smashed Stuart Broad for 6 sixes in an over
Stuart Broad, the former English pace stalwart, tops this list. Yuvraj Singh famously thrashed Stuart Broad in the 2007 T20 World Cup, hitting him for six consecutive sixes in an over. Notably, Yuvraj also scored a fifty in just 12 balls against England in the same match, a record that stood unbroken for a long time.
It all started with a verbal battle between Yuvraj Singh and Andrew Flintoff. Unfortunately for Broad, the verbal spat started by his teammate Flintoff came back to bite him when he was bowling.
Pollard had made 36 runs against Sri Lanka’s Akila Dhananjaya
In the list of bowlers conceding 36 runs in one over, the second name is Sri Lanka’s Akila Dhananjaya. West Indies’ former captain Kieron Pollard made 36 runs against Akila Dhananjaya in 2021. Pollard hit six consecutive sixes off Akila Dhananjaya’s bowling.
What made it remarkable was that Akila Dhananjaya had taken a hat-trick just moments before with his excellent bowling performance in the same match, but Pollard turned his celebration into disappointment by hitting him for six sixes.
