Sarfaraz Khan Creates Historic Milestone in Indian Cricket, Surpassing Legends Like Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar

Sarfaraz Khan’s stature as a domestic cricket star continues to rise, as he scored a commanding double hundred (221 off 276 balls) for Mumbai in the Irani Cup against Rest of India. This achievement makes him the first player to score a double century for Mumbai in the tournament, helping his team declare at 536 for 9 at the end of the second day.

Despite personal challenges, including his younger brother Musheer being sidelined from competitive cricket for 16 weeks due to a road accident, Sarfaraz showcased remarkable focus and skill. He maintained an impressive strike rate of 80%, striking 25 boundaries and four sixes.

Captain Ajinkya Rahane also contributed with 97 runs, but the day belonged to Sarfaraz, who, alongside Tanush Kotian (64), built a crucial 183-run partnership for the seventh wicket, significantly pressuring the Rest of India bowlers.
