Sarfaraz Khan’s stature as a domestic cricket star continues to rise, as he scored a commanding double hundred (221 off 276 balls) for Mumbai in the Irani Cup against Rest of India. This achievement makes him the first player to score a double century for Mumbai in the tournament, helping his team declare at 536 for 9 at the end of the second day.

Despite personal challenges, including his younger brother Musheer being sidelined from competitive cricket for 16 weeks due to a road accident, Sarfaraz showcased remarkable focus and skill. He maintained an impressive strike rate of 80%, striking 25 boundaries and four sixes.

Captain Ajinkya Rahane also contributed with 97 runs, but the day belonged to Sarfaraz, who, alongside Tanush Kotian (64), built a crucial 183-run partnership for the seventh wicket, significantly pressuring the Rest of India bowlers.

With this innings, Sarfaraz has strengthened his claim for a reserve middle-order spot for the upcoming Test season, particularly with the Indian Test tour to Australia on the horizon.

    Brief Scores:
Mumbai 1st Innings: 536/9 declared (Sarfaraz Khan 221*, Ajinkya Rahane 97; Mukesh Kumar 4/109, Yash Dayal 2/89, Prasidh Krishna 2/102) vs. Rest of India.
