Kolkata Knight Riders is eyeing Sarfaraz Khan for the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League. The Indian batter recently debuted in Test Cricket and went on to showcase his class with the bat against the English bowlers. He was in particular phenomenal against the spin bowling.
Sarfaraz Khan displayed great audacity against English bowlers by scoring 62 off 66 in his debut inning. Unfortunately, he was run out due to a misunderstanding between him and Jadeja. However, he made the most of his chance in second innings as well. Sarfaraz remained unbeaten on 68* in the second innings.
The stellar show by Sarfaraz Khan has garnered attention from all over the world. He recently went unsold in the IPL 2024 Auction. However, according to the recent reports KKR mentored by Gautam Gambhir is looking to sign Sarfaraz Khan for IPL 2024.
The report was confirmed by the newspaper, Anandabazar Patrika. Sarfaraz Khan has played for three franchises in IPL so far. He has represented Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in his 50 match IPL career. His IPL records are not good as he has managed to score only at an average of 22.5 with a strike rate of 130.58.
Who will get replaced in KKR by Sarfaraz Khan in IPL 2024?
As per the IPL policies, no other player could sign with a franchise after the auction. However, if a team reports that their players have gotten Injured or cannot participate in IPL due to personal reasons then the IPL allows the team to bring in a replacement. Sarfaraz Khan could only join KKR if a player from the KKR withdraws or get injured.
As of now, KKR has not reported any concerns regarding players and it is hard to predict who will get replaced by Sarfaraz Khan. However, Gautam Gambhir has said to directed the KKR support staff to keep an eye on Sarfaraz Khan and if an opportunity arises due to an injury then sign him at the earliest for the IPL 2024.
