Murali Vijay Announces Retirement from International Cricket; All Set to Pursue New Opportunities

Murali Vijay played 61 Test matches for India in which he scored 12 centuries.

Murali Vijay announced today that he is retiring from international cricket. His retirement came after a shocking interview in which he blasted the BCCI for ignoring him despite him doing well in the domestic circuit.

In a recent interview, Murali Vijay called out the Board of Cricket Council of India and said that he wants to pursue opportunities in cricket in different parts of the world. Since then, the speculations about his retirement have been catching fire, and today Murali Vijay decided to make his retirement public by issuing a statement through Twitter.

Murali Vijay represented India in 61 Tests, 16 ODIs and 9 T20Is, scoring over 4,000 runs across formats. His most successful spell was with the Indian red ball team as he notched 3982 runs that included 12 centuries and 15 half-centuries.

In his retirement post on Twitter Murali Vijay wrote, “To all the cricket fans that have supported me through the ups and downs of international sport, I will forever cherish the moments I spent with you all and your support has always been a source of motivation for me.”

He has further said that he will look to play cricket in various leagues across the globe as he has now broken his ties with BCCI.
