Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has analyzed the performance of the top performers in India’s recent 2-1 series victory over Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.
According to Chopra, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was the second-best batter of the series after Usman Khawaja, despite being fifth on the list of top run-scorers with 242 runs in four Tests at an average of 40.33. Chopra praised Rohit’s crucial knocks on turning tracks, particularly his hundred in Nagpur, which he believes hold more value than just the numbers.
Chopra also discussed the impressive performance of Travis Head, who scored 235 runs in the remaining three games after not playing the first Test. He stated that Head’s performances have raised questions over veteran opener David Warner’s Test spot, as the former’s attacking game pushed India on the backfoot on a couple of occasions.
India’s win in the series has secured their place in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final, and Chopra believes the team’s impressive performances have set up a fascinating encounter in the much-awaited event.
