Australia thrashed West Indies by 159 runs in the first Test match on Friday, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series. The match, played in Barbados, was dominated by fast bowlers from both sides. In the first innings, both teams were bowled out for under 200, but Australia ensured victory by scoring over 300 runs in their second innings.
Star Australian batter Travis Head played a crucial role in this win, scoring half-centuries in both innings. His brilliant performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
With these two fifties, Travis Head reached a significant milestone. He became the first player to win 10 Player of the Match awards in the World Test Championship (WTC). Head has been outstanding in the WTC and is currently the fourth-highest run-scorer for Australia in the tournament, behind Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and Usman Khawaja. In 50 Test matches, Travis Head has scored 3,199 runs, including 8 centuries and 15 half-centuries.

He is also now fourth on the list of players with the most fours in WTC history, trailing only Joe Root, Marnus Labuschagne, and Steve Smith. Root has smashed 576 boundaries in 119 innings, Smith has hit 476, Labuschagne 443, while Head has struck 401 fours in just 83 innings.
Talking about the match, Australia scored 180 runs in their first innings, with West Indies pacer Jayden Seales taking 5 wickets and giving his team a strong start. However, the Windies batters couldn’t capitalise and were bowled out for 190, gaining a slim 10-run lead.
In the second innings, Australia posted 310 runs, thanks to fifties from Travis Head, Webster, and Alex Carey, setting a target of 301 runs for the West Indies. In response, West Indies could only manage 141 runs, handing Australia a comfortable win.
