Arshdeep Singh to get promoted soon; Selectors are considering him for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy- Reports

Team India selectors are considering selecting Arshdeep Singh in Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In such a situation, he can also be asked to play in the upcoming Duleep Trophy.

Playing Test cricket is the dream of every cricketer and this dream of Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh can soon be fulfilled. Actually, the selectors are considering selecting him for the Australia tour. Arshdeep Singh’s performance for India in white ball cricket has been excellent. He has been doing good in both the formats.

Arshdeep has performed brilliantly in the last two T20 World Cups. In the 2024 T20 World Cup, he was not only India’s but also the joint highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 17 wickets. After his brilliant performance in the white ball, he can be promoted to red ball cricket.

The selectors are very impressed with Arshdeep’s ability to swing the ball in limited overs cricket, so he can prove to be a trump card on the Australia tour. If he gets in the Test squad then, the Indian bowling line-up could be more lethal.

A source told, “Arshdeep has performed impressively in white ball cricket for India. He may be asked to play some red ball matches starting with the Duleep Trophy from September 5 to increase his chances of selection for the Australia tour. There is every possibility that he can prove to be a trump card for India along with Jasprit Bumrah in Australia.

The source further said, “In fact, the selectors are keen to have the option of another left-arm fast bowler at least in the white ball team, which is why Khalil Ahmed toured Zimbabwe and has been selected for both ODIs and T20s in Sri Lanka.”

India has to tour Australia later this year. For the first time on this tour, a 5 match Border Gavaskar Test series will be played between India and Australia. The last two times Team India has been successful in defeating Australia in their own home. This time India will be eyeing to defeat the Kangaroos in their own home for the third consecutive time.
