Australia Abandons ODI Series Against Afghanistan

Australia Abandons ODI Series Against Afghanistan due to Taliban policies.

Cricket Australia has announced that it has decided to abandon the ODI series against Afghanistan. The series was scheduled to happen in March in UAE. However, the cricket board of Australia has announced that the Taliban’s decision to restrict women’s rights and education has led them to abandon the ODI series against Afghanistan.

In an official statement, the cricket board of Australia said, “Cricket Australia is committed to supporting growing the game for women and men around the world, including in Afghanistan, and will continue to engage with the Afghanistan Cricket Board in anticipation of improved conditions for women and girls in the country.”

Taliban had recently announced that Afghanistani women would not be allowed to study after the 6th class. Also, the women in Afghanistan have most of their rights revoked by the Talibani government.

Cricket Australia says that it is committed to building an equal society in the world, and this is the primary reason that they have decided to abandon to series against Afghanistan.
