“I’m sure IPL franchises will be looking at Dasun Shanaka,” says Sri Lankan Coach

Chris Silverwood thinks that Dasun Shanaka can still make it to IPL 2023.

Dasun Shanaka, the captain for the Sri Lankan cricket team in limited overs format, is going through a solid form in the series against India. He was phenomenal in the T20s and played an absolute gem of an inning in 1st ODI. The Sri Lankan all-rounder has had an average of over 100 against India in the past couple of years.

Dasun Shanaka

Dasun Shanaka has been lauded for his great leadership skills and selfless cricket. He is a dynamic batter and bowler who can turn the game around singlehandedly. However, Shanaka was not picked by any IPL franchise in the recently held IPL 2023 Auction. Despite being brilliant in the limited-overs format, he missed out on making it to any team in IPL.

Chris Silverwood, the former English cricketer and the current coach of the Sri Lankan cricket team, thinks that IPL franchises can acquire him if one of the players gets injured in IPL 2023. He said, “I’m sure IPL franchises will be looking at Dasun Shanaka and seeing how dynamic a cricketer he is. Hopefully, he’ll get an opportunity.”

The Indian cricket team is going to play the 2nd ODI of the three-match series today in Kolkata at Eden Gardens, and Dasun Shanaka will again have an opportunity to leave a lasting impression with his bat.
