Australia considers cutting down squad as two more players may leave India amid series loss to India

Following a series of defeats in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar trophy, Australia is reportedly looking to send more players home to cut down the strength of their squad before the remaining Tests in India. Australian players Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and David Warner have already left the team due to various reasons. Now, Ashton Agar and Matt Renshaw are speculated to leave the Australian camp if the management determines they are not in their plans for the Indore and Ahemdabad Tests.

Coach Andrew McDonald has commented that the team is carrying a lot of players, and they have to be careful, considering cricket is going on in Australia. He also added that the team has to be clear about what they want to achieve in the next two Tests, and thus, sending players back home is a possibility.

The Australian team’s struggles in the Indian subcontinent continue, with the hosts retaining the Border-Gavaskar trophy for the fourth straight time. India’s impressive victory in the second Test by six wickets in Delhi was the final nail in the coffin, after the hosts won the first Test by an innings and 132 runs in Nagpur.
